Emporia Main Street has a new spin on an existing event on the community calendar this weekend.
The Summer Sip and Shop goes from 5-10 pm Saturday and is a variant of Moonlight Madness events held the past several years. Besides offering specials and promotions, this event will also include alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink options at the nearly 20 participating businesses.
On KVOE’s Talk of Emporia this week, Main Street Director Casey Woods says it’s an important event for a few reasons, starting with the shopping opportunity.
Main Street is also getting ready for its annual meeting July 20 at the Lyon County History Center. Community Development Coordinator Jessica Buchholz says this dovetails into the annual investor drive.
The event begins at noon and will feature lunch, a look at both the year recently completed and the year ahead and presentations of the business of the year, advocate of the year, volunteer of the year, J Warren Brinkman Historic Preservation and Steve Hanschu Excellence in Design awards.
For information on both events, go online to emporiamainstreet.com or call 620-340-6430.
