Three area football players will be playing in the 50th annual Kansas Shrine Bowl Saturday in Hays.
Emporia High’s Bobby Trujillo will be on the east squad. He’s a second-generation family member to play in the game. His father, Robert, played in the game in 1992.
Joining Trujillo on the east squad is Osage City’s Landon Boss. Boss is one of the four captains for the east squad. He says the experience has been great heading into the game.
Council Grove’s Ethan Burton is on the west squad. Burton says he was ecstatic when he found out he was selected to play in the game.
Four Emporia State signees will be playing in the game. Jacob Carver of Rossville, Levi Cooley of Bonner Springs and Malik O’Atis of Shawnee Mission Northwest are on the east squad. Bradley Bond of Goddard is on the west squad.
Kickoff in Hays is set for 7 p.m. The game will be streamed on the Kansas Shrine Bowl’s Youtube Channel.
