Trial dates are tentatively set in a Lyon County rape and aggravated indecent liberties case after a recent hearing.
Judge Lee Fowler set potential trial settings of Sept. 25, Oct. 10 and Oct. 30 in the case against Dennis Ray Torrence. A status hearing Sept. 20 could finalize the trial schedule, with a motions hearing set for Sept. 8.
Torrence is charged with illegal sexual activity with a child under the age of 14 back in January.
Separately, a pretrial conference is coming in August in a Lyon County aggravated robbery case.
Shedrick Williams is currently charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated battery and burglary after an alleged incident at Emporia’s Eastgate Apartment complex a year ago. Williams’ pretrial Thursday was continued to Aug. 25.
In other hearings from Lyon County District Court:
A man accused of aggravated child endangerment received 15 months in prison at his sentencing Friday. Larry Jan Williams accepted a no-contest plea agreement to one aggravated child endangerment count after initially being charged with two endangerment counts, as well as drug and paraphernalia possession. Williams also as 12 months of postrelease supervision.
A man accused of attempted murder, aggravated arson and other counts now has a pretrial and arraignment hearing next month. Donovan Williams, accused of throwing a homemade incendiary device into an apartment window at 825 Congress in April, could learn his potential trial dates at the hearing Aug. 18. Williams is also charged with aggravated child endangerment and criminal use of explosives.
