The Tampa Bay Rays swept a doubleheader from the Kansas City Royals Saturday. The Rays won the first game 6-1. A 3 run 8th inning was the big difference for the Rays. Bobby Witt Jr. solo home run in the 5th inning was the lone run for the Royals.
Tampa Bay won the 2nd game 4-2. The Royals tied the game at 1 in the 3rd inning, Nick Prato scored on a Maikel Garcia sacrifice fly. The Royals took a 2-1 led in the 5th inning, Drew Waters scored when Dairon Blanco hit into a fielders choice. Tampa Bay would score single runs in the 7th, 8th and 9th innings for the win and the sweep.
The Royals and Rays play again Sunday. Brady Singer will be the starting pitcher for the Royals with first pitch set for 1:10 pm. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM beginning at 12:30 pm.
