Emporia’s annual Homegrown Celebration is coming this weekend.
The market begins at 8 am, with the Homegrown activities beginning shortly afterward. Here’s Farmers Market Coordinator Trisha Fullerton:
Kids ages 5 and below can be part of the watermelon rolling contest, while kids between ages 6-9 can enter in the eating contest and kids between ages 10-13 can be part of the seed spitting contest.
Prizes, music, crafts, Kasasa capes through ESB Financial and more activities will be part of Homegrown. ESB Financial has sponsored the event for years, and Fullerton says ESB Financial’s support of Homegrown specifically and the market in general has been vital to the success of the market.
This is the 18th annual Homegrown Celebration.
