A reported fire in an apartment home Monday morning turned out to be unfounded.
Emporia, Americus and Olpe firefighters were dispatched to the 400 block of Market shortly before 7 am after a smell of smoke was reported. Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Wade Schmidt says Emporia firefighters found no sign of fire activity anywhere in the building.
Americus and Olpe firefighters were dispatched as mutual aid but canceled before they arrived.
