Lyon County Commissioners may take action to approve the 2024 budget when they convene for their weekly action meeting Thursday.
Consideration of the budget, and possible approval for publication, will be the commission’s first major action item following several weeks of discussions and revisions. As of last Thursday, the budget included a 4.5 mill increase, however, commissioners and controller Dan Williams have stated there were certain items they would review that could potentially lower that increase ahead of the budget’s publication.
In other business, commissioners will consider approving the 2023 final budget report for the adult and juvenile KDOC budgets from Community Corrections Director Steve Willis. The purchase of a small new transit composite bus for Lyon County Transportation totaling $91,574, with 90 percent of the cost to be reimbursed by the Kansas Department of Transportation, will also be considered.
Five executive sessions, four for non-elected personnel and one for legal matters, are also scheduled. The meeting will begin at 9 am inside of the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
