The Kansas City Royals snapped a five-game losing streak with a 5-3 victory over the Cleveland Guardians Monday night.
Kansas City took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning on a 2-run double by Edward Olivares. Salvador Perez had a 2-run home run in the sixth inning to make it 4-0. That home run was Perez’s 200th career home run as a catcher.
Cleveland scored its first run in the sixth. Maikel Garcia had a solo home run that make it 5-1 in the seventh. Cleveland scored its final two runs in the seventh.
Ryan Yarbrough earned the win on the mound going six innings allowing one run on six hits and recorded a strikeout.
Bobby Witt Jr and Kyle Isbel each went 2-for-4 at the plate.
Scott Barlow earned his 12th save of the season.
The Royals and the Guardians play game two Tuesday. Zack Greinke will start for the Royals.
