Like it or not, the heat has returned.
Thanks to a heat dome building in from the south, high temperatures will be right around 100 degrees, plus or minus a degree or two. Heat index readings may be 105 or higher. The combination of heat and humidity means a heat advisory for Lyon and most surrounding counties from 1 pm Monday to 9 pm Thursday.
TV-13 meteorologist Doug Meyers says there won’t be any relief at night, either, with overnight lows in the mid-70s.
Meyers says the current indications have the heat dome finally breaking down by the middle to end of next week.
Meyers says it’s important to be well-hydrated all week long. Also, wear light, loose-fitting clothing. Limit outdoor activities to the morning or evening if possible. Never leave children or pets in vehicles if you’re on errands or out shopping. Also, be sure to check on elderly neighbors if they don’t have air conditioning.
