A crash near El Dorado sent an Emporia woman to a hospital Tuesday.
The crash happened on the Kansas Turnpike almost 50 miles southwest of Emporia shortly before noon. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a car driven by 36-year-old Grace Haid was southbound in the outside lane and driving between 45-50 mph. A southbound semi driven by 32-year-old Jimmie Maynard of Sitka, Kentucky approached the Haid car and tried to swerve around it but hit a corner on the car instead.
Haid’s car hit a guardrail and the inside barrier wall, while Maynard’s semi drove over the guardrail and overturned in a nearby ditch.
Both drivers were taken to Susan B Allen Hospital in El Dorado with suspected minor injuries. Both were the only occupants in their respective vehicles. Both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
