Several communities in or near the KVOE listening area are receiving significant funds through the state’s Community Development Block Grant program.
Cottonwood Falls is receiving over $161,000 for handicapped-accessible improvements. It is contributing $53,700 as matching funds.
Alta Vista will receive over $71,000 with a nearly $24,000 local match for park enhancements. Burlingame is also receiving funds for park improvements. The $500,000 block grant will have a dollar-for-dollar local match.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly says nearly $8 million in federal funds was available with this round of funding. CBDG funds are administered by the Kansas Department of Commerce’s Community Development Division. This round of funding was set for five program areas: community centers, parks and libraries; sidewalks and trails; childcare facilities; youth job training; and ADA handicapped-accessible improvements.
