A hay baler was damaged by fire late Wednesday afternoon.
Emporia firefighters went to the 2300 block of Road H, about two miles east of Americus, after the fire was reported around 4:30 pm. Fire Capt. Michael Nunley says the baler was damaged and about 10 large round hay bales were destroyed. Nearby grass also caught fire, but Nunley says that grass was already cut so there was minimal impact.
Nobody was hurt. The fire’s cause is undetermined.
