At least for this week, the US Drought Monitor’s update map is identical to the one from last week.
Most of Lyon County remains in moderate drought, or level D-2, along with the east half of Morris County and most of Osage County. Abnormally dry conditions, or D-1, can be found in northern Lyon, far northwest Osage and southern Wabaunsee counties.
Most of the rest of the KVOE listening area, including Coffey, Chase and Greenwood counties, are in either D-2 severe drought or D-3 extreme drought. D-4 exceptional drought, the worst on the Drought Monitor scale, remains in southwest Greenwood County just outside the KVOE listening area.
