Emporia Police officers are investigating an alleged aggravated battery incident from Saturday night, and they are looking for the suspect in this case.
Officers and Lyon County deputies began investigating after learning of a man who suffered significant but not life-threatening injuries at a home near Fifth and Union. As they remained outside the house waiting for authorization on a requested search warrant, Police Officer Dominick Vortherms says the suspect drove up and then fled, leading a short vehicle and foot pursuit which turned into an extended search early Sunday.
Vortherms says the early investigation points to a verbal altercation before things turned physical. The suspect is known to authorities but is not being named at this time. The person hospitalized is also not being named.
