Lynn Smith may be leaving her role as Pioneer Bluffs’ executive director, but her work for the historic property will continue well after the change in leadership now underway.
Pioneer Bluffs Board President Nancy Mattke says anonymous donors have contributed $30,000 to honor Smith’s accomplishments through the Lynn Smith Home and Ranch Heritage Fund. The money will help ongoing revitalization efforts of the Pioneer Bluffs farmhouse built in 1908 and the barn built seven years later. It will also continue Pioneer Bluffs’ work to preserve the Flint Hills’ ranching heritage.
Smith became Pioneer Bluffs’ first executive director in 2008. It’s the only center dedicated to highlighting and preserving Flint Hills ranching history — and part of that includes a pair of Prairie Talks set for Aug. 19. More information is available at pioneerbluffs.org.
