Local Veteran groups hosted a special group in Emporia Wednesday.
The Fort Leavenworth 2023 class of the International Command and General Staff College is made up of over 100 international officers from across the world.
All Veterans Memorial Association historian Frank Lowery gave the group a tour of the memorial before the group headed to the American Legion for lunch and presentations. Lowery says it’s truly amazing to get to learn and hear stories from all the officers from around the world.
Major Jiang Jian-Liang from Taiwan says all the historic sites he’s visited while part of the General Staff College gives him a better understanding of the United States.
During the tour of the All Veterans Memorial, representatives from Fort Leavenworth presented Lowery with a Fort Leavenworth ornament as a token of appreciation.
