National Disc Golf Day is Saturday and there’s two special activities happening in Emporia.
Dynamic Discs founder Jeremy Rusco joined KVOE’s Morning Show Thursday to announce Dynamic Discs will be giving a free disc to anyone that’s new to the sport as a part of National Disc Golf Day.
Rusco says one of Dynamic Discs’ focuses is to get as many people playing and enjoying the sport as much as possible.
Rusco says the sport continues to grow within the last five years. He added there was a big interest in players joining during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Along with Dynamic Discs’ giveaway, the Emporia High Spartan Pride Bands will be holding a fundraising disc golf tournament.

Along with the tournament and performance, there will be a bake sale and a raffle.
Emporia High band director Glenn Woolard says the funds will go to the Spartan Bands Booster Club. Woolard says funds go toward a lot of different amenities needed for the band.
The cost for the tournament is $30 per person. Registration can be done online at discgolfscene.com and search for Emporia High School Band Fundraiser. The link can also be found on the Emporia High Spartan Pride Bands Facebook event: EHS Bands Disc Golf Tournament Fundraiser.
Anyone that’s new to disc golf that plays in the tournament will also receive a free disc from Dynamic Discs.
