An equipment malfunction at a West Emporia business is believed to have been the cause of a call to the Emporia Fire Department early Thursday afternoon.
According to Battalion Chief Ryan Conley, crews were toned out to 1318 Industrial Road, Tractor Supply, just before 1:40 pm for a reported structure fire. Conley says upon arrival and entry into the building they did note a slight haze and faint smell of burning rubber, however, no fire was ever found.
Conley says the exact cause has not yet been determined, however, they believe an AC Unit may have malfunctioned causing the haze inside of the building. The business was evacuated for roughly 30 minutes before the all-clear was given.
No injuries were reported and there was no damage to property.
