For the third straight week, there was little to no movement — positive or negative — in the US Drought Monitor’s weekly map for the KVOE listening area.
Abnormally dry conditions still cover parts of northeast Lyon County, far east Osage County and almost the southern half of Wabaunsee County.
Moderate drought covers most of Lyon, Morris and Osage counties, with severe to extreme drought creeping into far southeast Lyon County and affecting most of Chase, Coffey and Greenwood counties.
Exceptional drought, the worst on the Drought Monitor scale, remains in southwest Greenwood County just south of the KVOE listening area.
