with a fundraising disc golf tournament, the answer would likely be “no.”
In fact, Woolard, who spoke with KVOE News during the Emporia High Spartan Pride Band’s inaugural fundraising tournament Saturday, says holding a disc golf tournament in Emporia seems to be the ideal way to raise money for any cause.
The tournament took place at Flint Hills Technical College and saw right around 30 disc golfers take part. Woolard says he is very happy to see the support as the band traditionally takes a back seat in terms of notoriety when it comes to school activities.
That being said, Woolard notes that most athletic events would not have the same atmosphere people are accustomed to without the band’s presence.
In addition to the tournament, the band held a raffle and bake sale and put on a special performance for those in attendance to get a closer look at what they were supporting. Final totals from the fundraiser tournament are pending.
