A minor speed bump with the Sertoma Club Miniature Train hasn’t slowed things down.
The train had been shut down for several weeks last month due to maintenance.
Sertoma Club member Terri Summey tells KVOE News that a fan was replaced to help keep the engine cooled down. The club also tweaked the air brakes, which help stop the train and the horn.
Other than that, Summey says the train is running well.
Summey says ridership continues to be consistent as Natalie and Ken Schankenberg have donated free rides this summer.
Summey says she’s fortunate the Schankenbergs find a way to give back to the Emporia community. The free rides end on August 16th.
The Sertoma Club’s train season ends at the end of this month. They’ll still be accepting parties through October.
