A preliminary hearing is coming this fall in an Emporia arson case.
Justin Alan Aguilar, age 36 of Emporia, was booked into the Lyon County Jail early Friday and subsequently charged with single counts of arson and domestic battery along with two counts of criminal damage. Aguilar’s next hearing is Oct. 3 before Judge Lee Fowler.
The formal charges follow an incident at 823 Sylvan on July 17 after an alleged disturbance, which included minor fire damage to a doghouse and the home nearby, according to Emporia Police. Two people apparently left the house with one getting hit in the face, treated at Newman Regional Health and released shortly after the alleged incident.
