The 2023 swim season is nearing its end.
The Jones Aquatic Center will officially close up for the year this weekend. The aquatic center’s final event will be its annual fiesta Sunday afternoon according to Aquatic Center Manager Jennifer Wegener.
Once the fiesta wraps up, the pool will go to the dogs, literally, as the annual Pooch Plunge will begin at 3:30 pm. Small dogs will swim at 3:30 pm until 4:30 pm when large dogs will swim.
Admission for the Pooch Plunge costs $4 per dog regardless of size. Wegener says they are asking that children not swim with their dogs during the event and that adults not go further than waist deep due to there being no chlorine in the pool.
Wegener says the end of the season is always a “bittersweet” time and adds that 2023 was a “good year” for the aquatic center.
