Much of Monday’s attention on the Lyon County Fair was focused on the Premium Sale in the evening, but a number of contestants had a unique way to show off their skills as part of the Round Robin event in the morning.
Emily Miser was the Level IV grand champion. She has put in a lot of time at the fair the past two weeks — getting up at 5 am every day to start her preparations.
Round Robin participants qualify by being named champion or reserve champion in showmanship for the different animals — and by being in Level III or Level IV, or ages 12-19. Miser chose swine and sheep as her animals, but she likes the fact she can show all the different animals in one contest. She also enjoys learning from her fellow competitors.
Miser says she enjoys 4-H activities, saying it has helped her to be responsible and “driven” about her goals.
