USD 252 Southern Lyon County Superintendent Ryan Muhlig says the district is in a “good place” financially according to the 2024 budget.
That was a major takeaway for Muhlig following the USD 252 Southern Lyon County Board of Education’s regular meeting Wednesday where the budget was one of several talking points. Muhlig tells KVOE News the budget will see a lower mill levy, barely over one mill, for taxpayers and credited the work of administration both past and present for putting the district in a strong financial position.
In other business, board members continued discussions on the Olpe Fitness Park project. Late last month, the board had to rescind a vote to donate $600,000 in funding to support the project due to that action not being legally permitted.
KVOE also recently reported the fitness project has received over $100,000 in tax credits through the Kansas Department of Commerce. At this time, Muhlig says the board has not noted any plans to try and recommit the $600,000 to the project.
He tells KVOE News information gathering continues to be the main focus for both himself and the board at this time.
The USD 252 Board of Education is next scheduled to convene for its monthly meeting in September.
