The search for KVOE’s Hide & Seek Medallion became a “treasure hunt” for Alexis Stevens and her family.
Eventually, after two weeks of searching, the X — or the medallion — that marked the spot was on the bank of a pond just east of Emporia High School’s football field. Stevens was relieved. Her kids were thrilled.
Stevens started near the front of Emporia High before going to the front of Flint Hills Technical College. After those stops were unsuccessful, she went to Emporia Middle School and then between the middle school and high school before the last two clues redirected her efforts. Stevens says there were a lot of people in relatively close proximity Friday morning, but the crowd had thinned out somewhat by evening.
8:45 am Saturday: Hide & Seek medallion found
The longest search period in KVOE’s Hide & Seek short history is officially over.
Alexis Stevens found the medallion Friday evening on the bank of a pond just east of Emporia High School’s football field, following the reveal of the 10th and final clue on KVOE’s Morning Show earlier in the day.
Stevens and a host of other KVOE listeners got their hunting licenses claimed and validated by visiting nine different sponsor locations in late July, with clues beginning July 31. Being fully validated, Stevens will pick up over $5,000 in prizes from KVOE and sponsors including:
*Brown’s Shoe Fit
*Dynamic Discs
*NexTech Wireless
*Flint Hills Lanes
*Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers
*Jack’s Lawn & Pool
*Mi Chavelita Mexican Grll
*The Present Tea
*Union Street Social
Had the medallion not been claimed by noon Monday, KVOE would have taken the unprecedented step of randomly drawing for prize winners.
