A child was taken to Newman Regional Health after injury crash near Neosho Rapids on Saturday.
Lyon County deputies, Emporia Fire/EMS and Hartford-Neosho Rapids EMS were dispatched to Interstate 35 at the Kansas Highway 130 junction. Deputy Benjamin Folks says a northbound car on K-130 hit the passenger side of a car that had pulled over momentarily onto the I-35 exit ramp and was re-entering the ramp northbound.
A passenger in second car, a child secured in a car seat, was taken to Emporia for medical treatment. The child’s father, Lester McGaugh of Westwood, and the driver of the first car, Jeremy Jordan of Neosho Rapids, both had suspected injuries but declined medical treatment.

Lyon County deputies are investigating after the second reported injury crash near Neosho Rapids in as many days.
The crash was reported before 4 pm Saturday on Interstate 35 at the Kansas Highway 130 junction, three miles north of Neosho Rapids. Emporia Fire/EMS took one person from the scene of the wreck for observation and possible treatment.

Saturday’s wreck follows an injury crash reported near K-130 and Road 170 Friday morning. A Topeka man was arrested on suspicion of unspecified charges connected to the incident.
