The Emporia State women’s basketball team played its first game during its trip to Italy Sunday. The Lady Hornets were defeated by Via Dell’Arcadia, 70-63, in Rome.
Emporia State led 33-26 at halftime before being outscored by 14 in the second half. Emporian Gracie Gilpin led the Lady Hornets with 16 points, with three 3-pointers and three assists. Aliyah Bello scored nine points, grabbed five rebounds and three assists. Ehlaina Hartman had seven points, eight rebounds and two steals. Faith Paramore had six points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Emporia State will face Via Dell’Arcadia again on Wednesday before returning home on Thursday.
