Former Emporian Edgar Rodriguez and his family may not live in Emporia any longer, but that’s not stopping a local business from doing all it can to support them in a moment of great need.
The Rodriguez family now lives in Hawaii and recently lost everything as a result of the ongoing Maui wildfires. With that in mind, Edgar Rodriguez’s former employers at Mulready’s Pub have decided to jump into action and collect money to support the family as they work to recover.
Mulready’s owner Meg Worthing says no matter where they may live, the Rodriguezs are Emporians, and Emporia always takes care of its own.
Worthing says not only is the Rodriguez family trying to rebuild their own lives, but they’re also doing all they can to help others affected by the fires.
Worthing tells KVOE News Mulready’s is collecting individual donations for the family and will be donating a minimum of 10 percent of all sales proceeds to the Rodriguez family this week. A GoFund Me page has also been set up for donations.
You can find the GoFund Me page by clicking the link below. For those wishing to donate in person, Mulready’s hours of operation are as follows: 4 pm to 9 pm Mondays
4 pm to 11 pm Tuesday through Thursday
2 pm to midnight Fridays
Noon to midnight Saturdays
