An Alta Vista City Council member has a preliminary hearling later this month on sexual abuse charges.
Following his first official appearance in Wabaunsee County District Court last week, Kenenth Seidens was set for his next hearing at 10 am Aug. 29.
Seidens is charged with aggravated sexual battery and aggravated criminal sodomy was arrested by Wabaunsee County deputies with a teenager in early August. The criminal complaint alleges the sodomy incident happened when the alleged victim was “unconscious or physically powerless.”
Seidens is also charged with furnishing alcohol to the teenager and distributing a small amount of marijuana.
If convicted, Seidens could spend over 50 years in prison on the aggravated sodomy count alone. He could also spend nearly 12 years in prison on the sex battery count, almost 18 months for furnishing alcohol to a minor and over four years in prison on the pot distribution count.
