Classes begin Monday at Emporia State University, but the rest of the week will see a dramatic increase in activity on campus as students move in.
The new student move-in process begins Wednesday and continues Thursday before returning students move in this upcoming weekend. On KVOE’s ESU Buzz recently, Director of Residential Life Kayla Landgren said Hornet Helpers will be busy — once again — in getting students where they need to go.
Orientation events begin Thursday, including a number of icebreakers, as well as events to connect students to faculty and peers, class tours, Greek life recruitment, relationship information and the “Free Money Game Show” trivia event. Senior Director of the Center for Student Involvement Blythe Eddy says the goal is to get all students off to a good start.
Once classes begin, Emporia State is continuing its efforts to enhance the on-campus experience. Friday Nights return, and the first announced event is Sept. 8. Actor and author Josh Peck, known for his work in the recent movie “Oppenheimer” as well as the 2012 movie “Red Dawn” and the Nickelodeon series “Drake and Josh,” will be the featured visitor for a moderated question-and-answer activity about his life and career. Peck’s appearance will be at Albert Taylor Hall.
