A tree limb was the cause of a downed power line and minor grass fire in an Emporia neighborhood Saturday afternoon.
Emporia Fire was called to 1931 Briarcliff just after 4:30 pm Saturday for a downed line and grass fire. According to Battalion Chief Ryan Conley, a tree limb fell onto the line downing it.
The line then sparked the fire in a 10 foot by 20 foot patch of grass which fire crews extinguished with a water can. No injuries or property damage was reported.
Residents in the area were without power for a short time as the line was repaired. All outages have since been restored.
