Six practices have been completed by the Emporia High football team, which wrapped up its first week of practice with an intrasquad scrimmage Saturday.
Coach Kaden Glinsmann says the Spartans have taken strides in the right direction during the first week of practice.
Senior Sheldon Stewart says the first week of practice has been great.
With several new coaches on Emporia High’s staff, including Glinsmann, Stewart says the Spartans have to trust the process.
Emporia High will practice four days next week before traveling to Wichita Heights for a jamboree on Friday. The Spartans will see Wichita Heights and Garden City. Glinsmann says participating in the jamboree is valuable to see some quality competition before the Spartans’ season opener on September 1 at Welch Stadium against Pittsburg.
The Spartans will hold another intrasquad scrimmage next Saturday at 9 a.m. on the EHS Turf Field. That scrimmage will also include scrimmages of the Emporia Recreation Commission’s youth tackle football program, the Emporia Mighty Spartans program, and Emporia Middle School.
