As was the case two weeks ago, the USD 253 Emporia Board of Education has two meetings coming Wednesday.
Board members will have a special meeting to resume their board retreat as led by Dr. Alicia Thompson of the Kansas Association of School Boards Leadership Services Division. No action is expected.
The regular meeting to follow will focus on the 2023-24 budget. Action items include possible approval for hearing notices, both for the overall budget and a potential decision to exceed the revenue-neutral rate.
Separately, board members will get a health and wellness update. They will also discuss a hosting agreement with Emporia State University’s AmeriCorps program to offer services for students at Jones Early Childhood Development Center.
Two executive sessions are scheduled, one for personnel matters and one for attorney consultation.
Both meetings will be at Mary Herbert Education Center. The board retreat begins at 4 pm. The regular meeting begins at 6:30 pm.
