One of three defendants in an Emporia aggravated robbery case from earlier this summer began his court process this week.
Mikkel Lamont McCray was set for a preliminary hearing Oct 18 before Judge Doug Jones. Ty Wheeler of Kansas Legal Services was appointed as his attorney.
McCray joins Antonio Lee Brown and Elssy America Cervantes in court after allegedly robbing a man of a wallet, cell phone and/or keys in June. All are charged with aggravated robbery. McCray is currently charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery, while Brown and Cervantes are charged with conspiracy to commit robbery.
McCray was recently arrested after time sought by Lyon County Crime Stoppers. A suspect in the case, Calvin Cruse, remains at large and has a reward of up to $1,000 if he is captured, prosecuted and convicted.
