Emporia High School is starting the 2023-24 school year off on a great note with state recognition.
Emporia High was recently recognized as a “commended” school through the Kansas State High School Activities Association as part of the 2023 Performing Arts School of Excellence award process. The recognition was given for EHS’ work in the area of fine arts as voted by the Kansas Music Education Association, Kansas Speech Communication Association and the Kansas Thespians.
EHS was one of 11 schools to be named a commended school out of 18 total nominees. DeSoto High School received the top honor out of seven finalists.
USD 253 Community Relations Director Lyndel Landgren says for EHS to be recognized as one of the top 18 schools in the state is an exciting accomplishment.
