Court proceedings are advancing against two men accused of running a marijuana grow operation in east Emporia this year.
Pretrial and arraignment hearings are now coming in October for Scott Lane Lockyear and William Dalton Lockyear after preliminary hearings Wednesday. William Lockyear will appear before Judge Jeff Larson on Oct. 19, with Scott Lockyear before Judge Laura Miser on Oct. 20. At that next hearing, William Lockyear is set to change attorneys from Ty Wheeler to Steve Atherton.
When both return to court next month, Scott Lockyear may have an amended criminal complaint. Both he and William Lockyear have been charged with single counts of distributing anywhere from 450 grams to 30 kilograms of pot, as well as unlawful cultivation of anywhere from five to 50 plants and paraphernalia possession after their arrests in May. William Lockyear is also charged with one count of methamphetamine possession. Prosecutors have not mentioned additional plans for adjusting the charges against Scott Lockyear.
