It’s time to go fishing at the Prophet Aquatic Research and Outreach Center.
The seventh annual Vamos A Pescar, Let’s Go Fishing, event will take place Saturday morning. The event is aimed at promoting the sport of fishing within Hispanic families with a range of educational hands-on activities planned according to PAROC Outreach and Engagement Coordinator Dr. Daphne Mayes.
Organizer Patricia Saenz Reyes says over the past seven years the event has continuously grown both in terms of attendance and diversity.
Along with the various activities scheduled, several volunteer experts at the local and state levels will be on hand to lend instruction to those who attend. The afternoon portion of the activities will also include a free picnic with hamburgers, hot dogs and fish tacos being served.
Activities will begin at 9 am and run through 1 pm.
