The first 15 minutes weren’t the best according to Emporia High boys soccer coach Victor Ibarra in the Spartans’ season opener against Shawnee Heights Friday night.
Shawnee Heights scored both of the match’s two goals in the first 7:35 defeating the Spartans 2-0.
It took the T-Birds 15 seconds to score their first goal, with their second coming in the eighth minute.
Ibarra says the Spartans learned a lot from their season opener.
Emporia High is 0-1 on the season. The Spartans host Seaman at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday.
