Tuesday’s round at the Emporia Golf Course was one of the best for Emporia High sophomore Elise Eckert.
Eckert shot an 80 to win the Emporia High Invitational by five strokes. Eckert says her round is a good start to her season.
Ella Fessler was the other Lady Spartan to earn medalist honors. She finished eighth with a round of 92.
As a team, the Lady Spartans finished fifth with a score of 444.
Coach Rick Eckert says this is just the beginning of a learning season with only two returners from last year’s state runner-up team.
Emporia High is scheduled to compete in the Seaman Invitational next Thursday.
