The Kansas Department of Commerce’s Tourism Division has announced a series of grants, and an Emporia nonprofit is among the grant recipients.
Kansas Free for Arts, now also known as H2E Inc., is getting $5,000 for marketing — notably for out-of-state and regional tourism traffic. Funds in general are designed to expand tourism travel to certain “destination sites” while burnishing the state’s overall image, according to the Commerce Department.
Applications were reviewed by Kansas Tourism representatives before they were approved. Nearly $120,000 in grants through the Economic Development Initiatives Fund is being split among 22 recipients.
Department of Commerce officials will be at the H2E Inc., headquarters, 719 Commercial, at 8:15 am Thursday to present the check.
