A wreck near Newman Regional Health sent one person to the hospital Thursday evening.
The wreck happened at 12th and Chestnut just before 7:30 pm and developed after an eastbound cyclist was hit by an SUV, which initially was westbound but turned south to Chestnut.
The cyclist suffered apparently non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Newman Regional Health for observation and treatment. The SUV driver was cited for failure to yield and not having proof of insurance.
Emporia Police have not released names at this time.

One woman suffered apparently non-life-threatening injuries after a crash Thursday evening in Emporia.
An SUV and bicycle collided at 12th and Chestnut, just east of Newman Regional Health, shortly before 7:30 pm. Police Office Dominick Vortherms says a female cyclist was eastbound on 12th, while the SUV was initially westbound. The crash happened when the SUV driver turned south to Chestnut.
