Five members of the Emporia High girls tennis team medaled in the Emporia High Invitational.
Emporia High was led by the No. 2 doubles team of sophomores Peyton Chanley and Kinsley Hines who placed second.
Chanley, a returning state qualifier from last year, says it’s a good way to start her sophomore season.
Hines played doubles with Chanley last year when both were on Emporia High’s junior varsity roster. Even though they didn’t play together for the majority of last year when Chanley moved up to varsity, Hines says their friendship over the years helps when they’re on the court.
Sophomore Kali Keough finished fifth in singles while the No. 1 doubles team of seniors Ashlynn Foraker and Darian Chadwick finished fifth. Senior Danika Williams finished 1-2 at No. 2 singles.
As a team, the Lady Spartans finished fifth.
Emporia High will travel to Spring Hill next Thursday.
