Restocking of the Peter Pan Park pond is not necessary at this time following a fish kill from earlier this month according to Emporia leadership.
City Facilities Manager Kevin Hanlin spoke with KVOE News Thursday and stated that despite roughly 60 fish being killed off due to a high level of chlorine getting into the water, the fish population is still relatively strong at this time.

The fish kill came to light in mid-August and Hanlin says the cause was a high level of chlorine in the water, but what led to the high levels has yet to be determined.
In addition to reviewing the fish incident, Hanlin says city staff were also dealing with an equipment replacement within the pond’s fountain after a pump malfunctioned prior to the fish kill.
