There is more to enjoy as part of Emporia’s monthly First Friday Art Walk this time around.
Besides the traditional partnership between area artists and downtown merchants, there is a community mural project on Trolley House Distillery and the first partnership for Emporia State University’s Art Forum after that information event has been on campus for at least 30 years. First Friday organizer Kaila Mock:
The mural project, courtesy of A&A Signs and the Community Art Alliance, begins at 3 pm. Residents are encouraged to simply show up and begin painting.
The Art Forum begins at 5 pm at the Lyon County History Center third floor. ESU Art Department Chair James Ehlers will have a roughly 50-minute presentation and will also display some of his metalwork as part of his exhibit, “The Thing I Feared Came Upon Me.”
