Kansas tax revenues for August were lower than estimated and below August 2022 numbers as a whole.
In sum, August 2023 collections were $640.1 million, almost $25 million below estimates — 3.7 percent — and down almost 2 percent from a year ago.
Individual income tax collections were almost $300 million, nearly 8 percent below estimates and 2.6 percent below August 2022. Combined retail sales and compensating use tax receipts, $292.4 million, were almost 2 percent below estimates and 3.5 percent below August 2022.
Corporate income tax collections of $25.1 million beat estimates by almost 26 percent and August 2022 numbers by over 60 percent.
