Triple-digit heat has returned to the KVOE listening area.
High temperatures briefly reached 100 degrees both Saturday and Sunday afternoons, with peak heat index readings of 96 Saturday and 97 Sunday. More of the same is expected for Labor Day and Tuesday, with a high of 100 for the holiday and just short of 100 for Tuesday. Increasingly windy conditions will be in place for both days as well — meaning an increased fire danger for the early part of the week.
High temperatures will be in the low to mid-90s for the rest of the week. Slight chances of much-needed rainfall through showers and/or thunderstorms will dot the forecast Wednesday night, Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday and Sunday.
