A goal in the 59th minute was enough for Wichita Northwest to defeat the Emporia High boys soccer team, 1-0, in the opening round of the Titan Classic in Wichita.
The game was tied through the first 40 minutes of play before the Grizzlies scored midway through the second half.
Emporia High is now 1-3 on the season. The Spartans will play Hutchinson at 4 p.m. Thursday in a consolation semifinal of the blue bracket of the Titan Classic.
