The Tablets of Honor section of Emporia’s All Veterans Memorial is filling up. Again.
Tablet 14 is in the inscription process, with the goal of having the tablet completed and installed before Veterans Day.
Organizer and longtime spokesman Frank Lowery continues to be impressed with the interest at the local and national levels.
Lowery says the All Veterans Memorial has room for four more tablets once Tablet 14 is installed.
The project started in 2016. The first phase actually started with six tablets before expanding in phases since then. Each tablet has enough space to fit 80 names of local veterans according to Lowery. Those wishing to have their loved one’s name engraved on one of the tablets can find the application online at allveteransday.org. Name, branch, time of service, rank and proof of honorable discharge are needed to start the process. Cost is $150.
