You may think I’m kidding, but I’m not when I suggest discovering the Game Show Network while in California a decade ago vastly enriched my life.
Fortunately, I don’t have many Alzheimer’s symptoms, but dementia definitely wants to reside in me.
Watching the endless quiz shows on Game Show helps keep my mind sharper and active.
There’s actually now an app on your phone advertised as a “Brain Training “Game Show App” that helps improve memory in people with early dementia.
Here are some of my favorite shows in case you are interested.
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Cash Cab, Match Game 78, and old favorite Jeopardy.
Millionaire is hosted by TV icon Regis Philbin whose dry sense of humor makes this fast-moving show more interesting if the Omega XL ads don’t wear you out. Regis passed in 2020 after being crowned “the hardest working man in television.”
Cash Cab in on weekends with the host driving a cab in New York City and asking his passenger’s trivia questions for cash along the way. No multiple choice here so quick thinking is required.
Talk about corny and you’ve got Match Game 78 over the noon hour with Gene Rayburn as host with guests wearing 70’s clothing and hair do’s and making wacky guesses from 50 years ago. It’s just fun.
Without Alex Trebek who hosted over 82 hundred shows, Jeopardy is still pretty amazing with Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik sharing hosting duties.
Game Show Network has quiz shows 24/7 with Family Feud with Steve Harvey available a lot and well Feud is way better than soap operas!
With the TV and movie writers on strike, new shows will be in short supply soon, so Game Show Network will be a nice alternative. We sure like it!
